New service ensures all routes are open for young people in Swansea

A new service has launched in Swansea to provide advice, guidance, support and signposting to young people who are uncertain of their next steps in employment, education or training.

Launched by Better Jobs, Better Futures, a Swansea city centre-based initiative established by Gower College Swansea, the ‘Futures’ service is available throughout the summer to all young people aged 16+ in Swansea who are undecided on their future path.

Based at the College’s Employment Hub on the Kingsway, the Futures team are available to answer any questions regarding next steps after school or college, and to help young people explore all available paths into education, training, or employment.

Those wishing to access support can contact the team by phone or email, or simply drop-in to the Employment Hub to chat with a Career Coach.

James Bevan, Deputy Director of Employability at Gower College Swansea said:

“After the uncertainty of the past year, many young people may have an idea of what they would like to do, but just don’t know how to get there, while others may be unsure of their next steps altogether.

“Our Career Coaches are skilled in finding the right pathways for young people, not only helping them decide on their next steps but guiding them through what can often be a complex and confusing process to access the wealth of support and opportunities available to them.

“We are here to help young people find the best route to suit their individual needs, whether that is a job, an apprenticeship or pursuing further education or training.”

To access support from the Futures service you can email info, call 01792 284450, or simply drop into Gower College Swansea’s Employment Hub at 37 The Kingsway,
Swansea, SA1 5LF.
